Cheetah: A Swift and Elegant Predator
By Khaylila Khansa Tito (1209624031)
The cheetah is the fastest land animal in the world. It has a slender body covered in golden fur with black spots, a small, round head, and long, powerful legs. Its long tail helps it maintain balance while running. Cheetahs are mostly found in the savannas and grasslands of Africa. They are carnivores, meaning they hunt and eat animals such as gazelles and hares. Unlike other big cats, cheetahs rely on their incredible speed rather than sheer strength to catch their prey. They are usually solitary, although mother cheetahs stay with their cubs until they are old enough to survive on their own. Many people admire cheetahs for their grace, speed, and great hunting skills. In addition, cheetahs have sharp eyes and black stripes on their faces that help reduce glare from the sun, allowing them to see prey clearly from a distance. Unfortunately, the cheetah population is currently declining due to habitat loss, poaching, and human conflict, making them an endangered species.
